The ecstasy, enthusiasm and effervescence of childhood is too precious to miss out on and not experience it fully. However, we rarely value the importance of the effusion of emotions this tender age brings along as some of us want to grow up desperately.
Children see adulthood as a life of liberty and independance. They tend to overlook the challenges and complications which are an integral part of losing the innocence and liberty of childhood because we're adults. Yes, liberty lies with the toddlers and tender age kids. The freedom to freely experiment with their toys, to see the new world around them with a brand new outlook. Not to forget, they can offer the innovative freshness of their ideas and thoughts to kill the monotony and reiterate the age old conventions that surrounds everyone.
Those were the days of childhood excitement when mommy's custard, kheer, rajma-chawal, cakes brought the lost smiles on our faces.
When a short walk to the ice-cream kiosk made us forget we were really angry for something that seemed unimportant later.
When on our first day of school as we stepped out of our comfort and secure zone...
Mother wiped off the tears that rolled down the cheeks and said, "You'll rock dear! You're the best!"
When we were more worried about scoring good and not about failing to meet skyrocketing college cut-off lists despite studying every last day and night.
When we played outdoor games with friends,
Ran here and there, laughed at crazy things, made silly mistakes, innocence was highlighted inside out.
Our regrets were so small and simple. For instance, missing our favorite 'Small Wonder, Bewitched and I dream of Jeannie'.
Was never found cribbing or sulking about a bad relationship or breakup at a tender age,
Childhood is as much about discovering your creativity, potential, multidimensional skills, being an outdoor person, staying active, energetic and eclectic and not about being a couch-potato or glued to Xbox PlayStations, tablets or other screens most of the time at home.
Come on, go out skating, swimming, join that Bakery class, learn a new language, read that brilliant book about exploring diverse cultures and histrionics, play outdoor games{ I can list a number of games with instructions on demand }. Because the scene looks like our gen-next kids have forgotten the simple yet fun, ideal childhood life that ensures a well-rounded development, overall growth and the route towards a bright future.
Remember, when you grow up,
you'd be poorly caught up in the cobwebs of the responsibilities and duties,
you would have bigger worries, big problems and would have to take decisions keeping in mind the bigger picture of life,
little things, no matter how joyful, would lose their impact on you.
The first thing you would miss ...
during moments of introspection and reflection...
is your Childhood..
you would cherish the memories..
you would smile at your silliest mistakes that are making you cringe and feel embarrassed right now...
You would miss the care of your mother who gave you nutritious food but you insisted on eating unhealthy junk food making faces.
Your eyes would be brimmed to recall the scoldings from your father that hurt you and made you hate him back then. And now they remind you of your Dad's concern and sense of responsibility towards you.
You will miss your grandma's lap, your mom's caresses and conditioning, your father's gifts and gestures, your sibling's tiffs and love for each other.
Remember, when you will have grown older,
you would want to be a child again.
So children...live, laugh, learn and treasure each moment of your childhood because it never comes back again!
