"Oh! I've got very important appointments to attend. Here goes the to-do list: from the doctors, counsellors to seminars, workshops, healers, yoga classes, gymming , corporate meetings, children's responsibilities, household chores, spiritual masters and therapists. Phew! What a busy day. I better get moving in a jiffy."
Does this sound almost similar to your everyday routine? Not usually in that order or you could have a few different activities and duties to cater to. But I'm sure you do agree that most of us lead a hectic, purposeful, materialistic and a tad superficial life.
During childhood, we tend to find little silly things funny, we utilise our creativity while having fun on an ordinary day, we find it simple to fill the void through painting the canvas with beautiful sketches; colors and landscapes. Overall, we are totally comfortable with the way we are. As children, we are carefree, joyful and relaxed . We enjoy our comfortable space of easy convenience and dreams as compared to the chaos that comes with adulthood.
But the problem is, as we grow up, we tend to forget the simple pleasures of life, we stop seeking fun in trivial ordinary things around us, what we once found unique converts into awkward and weird for us, we become so obsessed with self and greed of power and authority, that we tend to forget our loved ones need our presence to complete them.
How often do you introspect, reflect and delve deep into the core of spiritual realms of life? Because the aforementioned positive qualities of childhood are restored when we give ourselves some free time dedicated to the most important person- YOU.
What do we mean by 'me-time'? Let me make it clear. The free time you get from your busy schedule? No, its not me-time. You have to make time for yourself. Me-Time is when you dedicate your free time purely for solitude. Because experiencing solitude is the first step to enter the threshold of me-time. Be comfortable with yourself, feel complete with your individuality without needing anyone else and stop nursing unnecessary worries about the world.
When you are through with this step. Now, think about what makes you feel proud of yourself, makes you feel good about your existence, assures you about the successful accomplishment of your goals? What makes you truly happy and forget any stress, tension or unpleasant occurences that upset you no end?
Is it music? Is it reading a good book or a favorite magazine or inspiring newspaper articles? Is it cooking? Is it getting decked up just to remind yourself of your beautiful personality? Is it writing in order to express your thoughts about hidden desires, ambitions, spirituality and philosophy or spread awareness, harmony and evolution through your write-ups? Is it having a heart-to-heart conversation with a loved one over a cup of coffee? Or is it retail-therapy?
Whatever is the activity you find fulfillment within. As long as you are doing positive karma, rest assured you will be rewarded for them.
The purpose for broaching up this topic is to highlight the importance of me-time. Just going through the daily grind and being a part of the rat-race won't get you to the destination on the top of your checklist. You might win but you still remain a rat.
Dedicate some quality time to yourself to do some productive, liberating and creative activities that make you feel one with God. This elevates your spiritual power, your thought-process, enhances your intuition, selflessness, wisdom, strength, expands your horizons, provides you with a keen eye for aesthetics that can see beyond superficiality and materialism. These qualities are food for your soul and heart. It makes them full with richness and in the pink of health.
I assure you can experience bliss. For once, lock behind the closet that insensitive, too practical and judgemental attitude you are plagued with.
Don't take your me-time for granted. I have made it a habit and trust me if there's something that empowers me to be effervescent and be a warrior in the constant battles of life, it is the precious me-time I dedicate towards self.
I understand you could be really busy, so am I. All you need to do is do a "quick power me-time". That means spare a couple of minutes, say 10-30 minutes, depends on your availability. Do what brings out the best in you and releases the stress and negatives from you. ( I'm notorious for losing my sleep over me-time for not getting enough rest but as long as it empowers and motivates me, it is worth it. Hey, but I strictly advise you to not lose your sleep!!!)
Hope you try it and experience bliss. Hope it transforms your life positively and you lead a happy , harmonious and healthy life.
♥ Love and Light ♥
