Alright, someone asked me what are the ten things I love about myself. I must say it sounded like I won't be able to reach till 10 as there may not be as many things I could appreciate about myself but the list finally completed 10 as I started writing down the answer. Here it goes:
1. I am a self-motivated and determined individual:
Now, let’s face it. There are times when certain situations or difficult people hit us in the face, sometimes literally. Things can get really difficult to bear. Then, you must listen to the inner-voice. Keep faith in your determination and potential. That is the time for some motivational self-talk. This is the time to fight the demons who keep you low, drain your energy and put you down. Tell yourself, "I can’t let the brilliance die like this.” when you feel like giving up.
2. I don’t need fancy things to make me happy:
I can find happiness in little, silly yet profound, ordinary things around me. Yes, some people think I am still a child, but I don’t care. I think one shouldn’t leave any funny moment without laughing. Giggle, chortle, chuckle and laugh your lungs out. If there are hundred reasons to be unhappy then find a thousand reasons to be happy. This trait helps me bounce back during tough times too.
3. I have a musical talent:
There used to be times when I used to sing melodious songs. I still, sometimes sing but in a different tone than earlier. But I love singing, it brings me to life, cheers me up, gives me wings and makes me feel as free as a bird. It needs to be focused on and I don’t get the time to. My family instructs me not to sing too loudly and I tell them you don’t respect the future-rockstar ;) lol.
4. I love poetry:
It started few years ago when a friend of mine requested me to pen down a poem for her as she was in love with a guy. And the next day, I wrote. But, she had already broken-up with him. But, it gave me a nudge in the right direction and ignited the poet in me. Now, I write on YourQuote app. Mostly based on romance and life.
5. I love cooking:
Yes, I learnt the ropes of cooking from somebody other than my mom and now I am skilled enough to cook any vegetarian dish. But due to my schedule, I am unable to cook and also due to laziness ;) haha. My mom looks for excuses to make me cook and she loves it when I do. And I love it when my family eats the food with so much love and appreciation.
6. I patch-up first after a fight:
When it comes to people I love, I don’t hesitate in putting aside my ego and patching up with them. I think if you are wrong, there is no harm in accepting it and reaching a solution to the problem. It only makes things better.
7. I gift handmade greeting cards to loved ones:
On birthdays, I have had a record of decorating, drawing and writing poems especially dedicated to the concerned person and gift it to them as a token of immense love and gratitude. I think there is nothing better than expressing your love to your loved ones and watching them save these cards as a special memory.
8. I love baking cakes:
Yes, I make eggless cakes at home out of biscuits, chocolates and what not. My family loves these cakes and appreciate my creativity plus hardwork. I love putting in all the labor for baking these cakes and watching it rise from batter to cake in the oven is one of the most delightful feelings in the world.
9. I am good at taking selfies that make me look deceitfully slimmer:
Yeah, I know you’d say this one is common because we are living in the selfie-century. But the catch is making yourself look visibly slimmer. Yes, even though people complain I take photos from one angle in most photos. But trust me,that angle makes the fat version of me look deceitfully fitter in comparison. It also makes me look prettier and photogenic.
10. I can make my lover feel like the king of this world:
Sacrifices, putting aside egos, gifting handmade cards, writing one-liners, composing poetry on him, singing melodies to him, being his reliable confidante, being his counselor and being his tempting lover yet conditioning mother. Being loyal to him behind his back even if Varun Dhawan or Hrithik Roshan comes in front of me, cooking for him, doing all the chores, forgetting the world for him, making him feel like he’s the center of my universe. And the list goes on.
P.S. Writing this made me realize my virtues when I have become accustomed to criticizing myself for putting on too many kilos. Thanks for asking this question. I am sorry if I come across as a smug, didn’t mean to.
